What Happens at a Council Meeting
View Royal's Procedure Bylaw No. 642, 2006 regulates the proceedings of Council particularly with respect to meeting procedures and is used as a reference document.
Council conducts the majority of its business at Regular Council meetings open to the public.
In-camera meetings are generally held after each Regular Council meeting. In-camera meetings are closed to the public and generally deal with property transactions, personnel matters and legal matters.
Amendments to the Zoning Bylaw and Official Community Plan are required to be considered at Public Hearings and scheduled as necessary, usually on Tuesday evenings.
Special Council meetings are occasionally scheduled as the need arises.
Members of the public wishing to attend Council meetings may view a copy of the Agenda online. Click here to view Council meeting agendas.
Staff prepare "unofficial" minutes of Council meetings and Council considers and adopts the minutes at the next Council meeting. Once the minutes are formally adopted, they are available to the public and will be available for viewing on the website.
